INTRODUCING KELVIN LASSITER
FAMILY
Kelvin Lassiter grew up in a middle class neighborhood in the Washington, DC suburbs, son of a retired chief petty officer in the United States Navy and a supervisor at a local Washington, DC bank. Dysfuntional family life and bad choices lead to experiences with low self-esteem, drug addiction, and homelessness. In spite of the tribulations, Kelvin never lost hope and was fortunate to become a member of an outreach ministry lead by Reverend J.C. Melvin. Because of his willingness to humble himself and listen, Kelvin's life was restored and made whole.
SPEAKER
Since 1998, Kelvin Lassiter has presented hundreds of speeches, workshops, and seminars to thousands nationwide. His professional speaking career blossomed when he joined Toastmaster's International in 2004 while achieving Competent Toastmaster and Competent Leader status. He has become known as the "Adversity Prevention" speaker covering topics such as: addiction prevention, character building, and leadership development.

VOLUNTEER
During his spare time, Kelvin can be found in the community providing guidance to the homeless, under educated, unemployed, and ex-offenders. These four groups (The Spectacular Fourth) account for a large number of the nation's population. It is Kelvin's passion to provide opportunity and second chance to those who may be voiceless. Kelvin is the past President of the Silver Spring Interfaith Housing Coalition Client Advisory Board where he served Montgomery County, Maryland in a role to give a voice to the homeless where dignity and self-respect was restored.
